COVINGTON — Louis F. “Ted”
Nixon, 95, died at 3.50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 in the Waters of Covington.
He was born Aug. 26, 1906 in Lodi, Parke County, the son of George and Bertha
Hammick Nixon. He married Lucy Evelyn Davis Sept. 22, 1934 in Covington. She
preceded in death March 7, 2000. He was a resident of Covington most of his
life. He had been employed at Neal Gravel Company, Covington Grain Company,
Olin Corporation, and National Homes for 13 years, retiring in 1969. Survivors
include: a foster child, Dorothy Schechter, Covington; two foster
grandchildren, Scott (Brook) Schechter, San Diego, Calif. and March Schechter,
Ft. Mead, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by
his parents, five brothers, and a sister. Gravesite services were at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating.
Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
